Make sure that you have the latest DOS version of MUGEN (mug10414) and have the Comet.lzh downloaded from the site posted above.

First, extract the Comet.lzh and zipped MUGEN prgram in your current directory(folder), and you will see 2 folders, "comet" and "mug10414"

Then, goto the "mug10414" folder and edit "data/select.def" by Notepad.
In line 64, add "comet, stages/cometBG.def", press enter and then save it.

Next, copy the following data:
(guideline: source ----> destination)
comet/data/*.* ---> mug10414/data
comet/stage/*.* ---> mug10414/stages
comet/ (<--the whole folder) ---> mug1041414/chars

Finally, start MUGEN and the fighting should be started successfully after selecting Comet-san as a Character.

(This have been tested successfully under Win98SE)

I based my translation on these two pages (and the acoustic version of the song on endless repeat ). It's not strictly literal, of course, that'd just sound wrong.
My interpretation of that song is that of a "guitar singer in a street, singing the story of one special person who passes by every day, his/her muse." The guitar singer dedicates a song to his/her muse (the indented parts, "I can say hello...")

The language in Comet-san doesn't seem to use any complicated structures, but as I'm still learning the language, I can't promise that I won't run into sentences I just can't translate. Better you know that up-front

well... my intention is to carry out liberal studies on animation so that anime is no longer just a form of entertainment.

In asia, many Otakus (a term which you can found in the japanese film "The Train Man") are being discrmininated by maintream society, reflecting a general misconception about anime. In fact, many parent still do not realise that anime is a form of presentation rather than toddler's paradise. With investigation via analysis, males are no longer be ashamed by watching female animes because they are not only watch animes, but also extract useful inormations from it.

It has been disucssed, in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (Chinese and Chinese Culture) that whether anime, as a popular culture, has educational valused on teenagers;Furthermore, Hong Kong SAR governments has intended to have a educational reform in which students has too take part in liberal studies to train their generic skills. Therefore, many socialists have recently excavate as many valuables from anime as possible.

In fact, the storyline of comet-san is not quite continuous, but the cast has really did a hard work on the musical applications.

If you listen to a comet-san song "ラヴハンタァー" carefully, you will realise that there exist a japanese foul language "pakayelu" inside. that's a BIG bug in the comet-san CDs.

The popular font-type is produced by a Taiwan Enterprise called DynaLab. Ususally the use of cute fonts stereotypically implies that the targetted audience are 3 years old or above, depending on the idfferentiability of the theme of the respective anime (eg: Comet-san is classificed as anime of Personal Love/MAHO (Magic Girl Series), or more generally, Science Fantasy (SF, the same genre as Doraemon, Digimon, Pocket Monster, Ojamajo Doremi, Keroro, Black Jack, etc.)

(a) & (d)"Singer" = Song Artist. This is also a branched career field of CVs, i.e. Dubbers as usual practices by Large-scale TV Anime Production Companies and their associates. The utimate aim of usch practices is to generate more income by diversification of production (as an Economics of Scale in Firms), and to extend the capacity of popular culture. Apart from for consumerism, many DJs and musicians often take these song/BGM samples for reference. Hence for every anime there exist inheritance and continuity of styles from previous one(s).

(b)
(i) To generate scenic atmosphere and to promote (veteran) CVs' image. For instance, The henshi (transformation) part of Digimons originate from the interrim song (IM) "Brave Heart" by 宮崎步.
(ii) To promote the image of japanese anime culture. It is commonplace practice to impress audience by audiovisual effects, eventually achieve the development of nostalgia for the anime.
(iii) To enjoy their freelance CV life by buliding up their own styles

(c) CD Companies are willing to sell Vocal contents at first step. They sometimes show off what the earth the musical instruments they are using in Karaoke versions to appeal for the pohential musicains, That's one of the reason why they sell portions of songs into separate theme CDS charging at high prices (with damnable GST included!) There has been an increasing voice forcing such songs to be "open-soursed" instead of just making profits for their own self-maximization!

Taiwan obey the source princple from Tv-Tokyo to keep the translated content as original as possible, while Hong Kong TVB guys (see http://tvb.com and the complaints anime-fans made in K-100 BBS inside) are dying to reshape the context of the anime into their own framworks of styles. The nomenclature formula of such a Hong Kong's tranlated title is as follows:

Title = "an associated theme" + "adjective" + "The main character"

The objective of such a ridiculous title made by TVB is to intrude local stars called "Cookies" to rewrite the opening theme song of comet-san from "Kimi no smile" with another theme "confidence", with mixing of puns (In Cantonese Chinese, the pronounciation of the word "smile" is similar to that of "comet".

Look at the faces of Cookies as a family of PC (P refer to Pork .... XD). They all rely on DSP effects solely without improving their vocal quality and is not HOT currently. It is irritating to hear too much instances of breathing vioce when unwillingly listening to the translated opening theme song!



Many comet-san fans in HongKong has been criticizing them for their egoistic pollution of the orginality of comet-san; Thanks to them (TVB and Cookies) to death, Hong Kong audiences can never watch the second openimng theme video!

Currenly HK TVB make alliance with local CD companies, knowing only to package as many as new starlets as possible to geenerate showbiz interests, as well as taking the japanese theme songs as their own experimental fields. The angle of view of Hong Kong audiences are very much reduced due to such "national" policy, since they deny running parallel policy to let Chinese versions and Japanese versions co-exist (this damnable situation is only improved when Fullmetal Alchemist is introduced to Hong Kong in 2005-2006). Nevertheless, some very much differentiated animes, such as Ojamajo Doremi, having complex melodical combinations, have NONE of the theme songs translated to chinese songs (i.e. only lyrics of IMs are displayed (by TVB) during the screening of the episode part).

c) Some of it has already be expounded by the approach of parsing ideologies. The fundermantal reason of such HK TVBs's ill-pandering policy is their stubborn mindset to treat anime songs as children's folk song rooted by solely money-orientated purposes, lacking respect of originalty in the course of their "ideal" creativity only to incur discontents of their hardcore consumers - anime fans. Hence whenever Hong Kong's government promotes "Industry of Creativity", many local media, including Mingpao and AppleDaily, either sniff at it or worry about its viablilty due to the nature of creativity (note: McMug and Mudull, AND Old Master Q are exceptional success cases) and lack of technical support. It is with dismay that too many a Hong Kong creative product cannot even breakthrough the frontier of copycat culture.

The test paper above demonstrates how anime can be thought critically. (Recall what the definition of "critical point" in physics is! Comet-san associate with Cosmology!) Acutally otakus (as hardcores of Anime-Comic-Game systems and the current computer markets as potential elites) in early 1980s have been extrovert and discussed every possible aspects relating to animes for academic purposes. Unfortunately, since some of them explore sensitive items (eg: the art of near-erotic items) and thus being labelled by stererotypical people relying on common senses hegemonically, forcing other otakuss to become introvert to avoid being attacked by ignorant gossiphiles by allusion. A point to make, otakus HATE hypocrisy and plagiarism after such vicious labelling move since 1990s, but this make thing even worst as the labeller starts to find excses to exclude otakus severely only to protect their own EGOs ( by veiling their own partiality toward otakuism). Hence the recent japanese "Train Man" tell hardly any of the compete images of otakus. Mathematically speaking (using The Set Theory), Anime Fans are only subsets of otakus iff they are willing to share with others. In fact, many otakus exists in Faculty of Social Sciences in many Universities, and even CEOs.
